Rough Cut

This is my rough cut. From my feedback I was told to change my font on writing for the extra stories on the right and the jagged edges of the hair needed smoothing out.

Planning

Planning process

These are our storyboards we created prior to the filming day, organisation and communication was key as we had limited time to get all the shots and plan of action ready so the day ran smoothly and everyone knew what they were doing.

These are our scripts and actions per each scene. These were used so we could come up with good one liners but also so we knew what we were saying before we were filming. After making the scenes we also realised that we would all have similar products so we developed extra scenes which we could include so people within the group could use more less specific scenes to make them different

This is our original planing sheet. We relations i.e. 'Parody - Hollyoaks'. But also here is where we created character names and links as well to come up with storylines. From here we organised and discussed the best storylines and character names to carry on with our soap

Audience moodboard relates Q3

My audience associate with:
  • Party people that are young adults
  • wealth
  • stylish
  • technological
Using a moodboard I was able to find my demographic yet also find what things to implement in my trailer. I also used Hollyoaks as a guide when making my moodboard to reach their conventions and also my own.

Ancillary Front cover photos

I decided to use a photo taken of one of our main characters. i decide it would work well as it fitted the pose and ideology of 'Fabulous'

In order to make it effective in a magazine and to follow the aspects of 'Fabulous' I decided to turn the background white. By doing this I used the magic tool of photoshop and got rid of all the green to create a plain white background.

The reasons for doing this was to make the character stand out and be eye catching.

Once i had cut it out there were a phew jagged edges. I recieved this from feedback off 'Twitter'. To improve this I decided to smudge the edges on photoshop to create a smooth surface.

After implenting text and colour. This is my final design.

Billboard ancillary photo choice

These are the pictures that were taken for our ancillary billboard where we had all the characters posing as puppets. This is due to us wanting to go away from the conventions and go with something unique and different. Our aim was to have one character controlling the rest as if they were puppets.

first attempt

Tuesday 13 December 2011

Here is my draw up draft for my magazine where my aim was to follow 'fabulous' with as little writing on it to give the main character its own story. By doing this I decided on a close up of her face with little writing so the face can overpower and be eye-catching.

This is the draw up of my Billboard I found that as the characters were being controlled by one person. I found that I would go away from the conventions and do puppets to make a unique but effective billboard.

Other trailer to follow from

Straight away we understand a storyline of murder due to a point of view shot of character reading letter saying ‘murder’.
We then hear dialogue saying “did you kill her” this implies that it is a woman but we don’t know who yet. With both the non digetic music and dialogue creates suspense making the audience want to watch more
Cut shot goes straight into another storyline but isn’t seemed as dominant as the main story
As the music gets up beat so does the pace of the editing and the emotions within the storylines and we begin to find out more
Close ups are used to get facial expressions of anger but yet also confusion.
The other story then links and creates tension involved
We then get a close up of someone lighting a match but we don’t know who portraying a sense of mystery for the audience
We get a cut shot straight to a extreme close up of eyes showing his emotions of being scared.
A title card appears saying ‘HELL HATH NO FURY…’ then a woman says ‘miss me?’ suggesting this is the woman linked to the letter at the start
To add suspense at the end a huge explosion breaks out but we don’t know who did it. Making the audience want to watch more.

Dallas 2012 opening credits review

Dallas 2012 opening credits
Started with the establishing shot up to the city as it is the start to everyone and also the face of everyone
We don’t see a lot of the city suggesting that the series is about the oil in their area and nothing to do with the city
We see more of the helicopter as we see it taking off
We see the oil rig showing that the show is still based on oil and money
We have new font indicating a new start or maybe its change in cast  or just as its gold portrays wealth and power

Dallas season 13 credits review

Dallas season 13 credits
Dallas name and music was much bolder showing its development in the show making it bigger and popular
Starts with establishing shot of the city so we suggest that it is similar people or same rich powerful people that own them
Show characters without names as of previous knowledge but also capturing them of how they look know so we don’t struggle to recognise them
Younger characters are being introduced to catch its original target audience of the younger adults
Instead of presuming about helicopter flying round taking the shots you actually see it in use in opening credits

Dallas opening credits
Aerial shots past sky scrapers so we know we are going to find out the people that own them.
We see a contrast of scenes involving a farm and city identifying that there is somehow a link
Shots are taken from helicopter/ owned by character we know this cause final picture of it driving up a drive
Noise of horses galloping in background so we suggested it is western style
Shows names of characters to introduce them to the audience
